The Queensland Academy of Sport has launched its You For 2032 talent identification program in a quest to find and develop champion athletes for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast.
Launching the program at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, Stirling Hinchliffe the Queensland Minister for Sport, said:
“The Olympic Games is the world’s biggest event and there will be many, many opportunities for all – if not as an elite athlete, perhaps as an official, a performer, a chef at the athlete’s village, or even a bus driver.”

Statewide search
You For 2032 aims to identify aspiring athletes aged 13 to 23 for Olympic sports and 13 to 30 for Paralympic sports with the Queensland Academy of Sport travelling across the state as they select more than 20,000 young athletes in a quest to put more Queenslanders on the medal dais in Brisbane 2032.
“This program will go to every corner of Queensland over the next six months to seek out talent through our schools, our coaches and our local sporting organisations which will deliver amazing outcomes for us in ten years’ time,” the Queensland Minister for Sport said.

Queensland Academy of Sport CEO Chelsea Warr was emphatic about the importance of the program and the need to identify the best available talent for the Games.
“We have to do this by design and not by luck, that’s why we’re getting proactive early. This program is about finding those big sporting diamonds,” she said.
Local talent
Students from Robina State High School attended the launch, taking part in training activities under the watchful eye of QAS coaches and officials. The school’s Deputy Principal Bruce McFarlane was enthusiastic about the program’s potential.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for our students to be involved with the launch of You For 2032. Being able to forge direct links with the Queensland Academy of Sport allows us to better support our students who want to choose pathways in sport. We’ve got some great talent at Robina High and hopefully this program will help to accelerate their sporting prospects,” Mr McFarlane said.
Applications for the Youfor2032 program are now open.
